Purposeful Leadership: The Human Side of High Performance at Publicis Groupe
How Braver Leaders helped Publicis Groupe MENA reconnect leaders with their purpose and build a consistent culture across the region
As hybrid teams expand and agencies compete to retain top talent, many organisations are rethinking what it truly means to lead. Publicis Groupe MENA recognised the need to go beyond operational excellence, investing in purposeful leadership, culture cohesion, and the human side of high performance. This shift came at a critical moment in their growth journey.
To address this, Publicis Groupe MENA partnered with Braver Leaders to deliver the Purposeful Leadership Program. This case study explores how a six-month leadership series helped leaders reconnect with their purpose, embed real tools for coaching, feedback and team development, and drive behaviour change that ripples through teams, not just individuals.
The Challenge: Technically Brilliant, Unsupported in Leading People
Publicis Groupe MENA had grown rapidly, acquiring agencies and expanding into new markets at speed. With that growth came a leadership challenge. Leaders were technically brilliant, but often promoted without sufficient support in leading people. Many felt:
Disconnected from their leadership identity
Burnt out from delivery
Unsure how to motivate or retain their teams
On top of this, feedback was inconsistent, psychological safety was patchy, and HR was struggling to shift the perception of being 'fluff' rather than strategic partners.
The HR team didn't want another surface-level training. They wanted something real. Something that would make leaders stop, reflect, and change.
The Solution: Braver Leaders, Purposeful Leadership Program
Braver Leaders designed and delivered a six-module series over six months, combining teaching, coaching, and real-world integration. Each module was underpinned by powerful theory and made practical through in-session reflection, group work, and monthly peer coaching pods. The programme focused on four key areas:
Reconnect Leaders with Their Purpose
Create a Consistent Culture Across the Region
Embed Tools for Coaching, Feedback and Team Development
Drive Behaviour Change that ripples through teams, not just individuals
The HR team didn’t want another surface-level training. They wanted something real. Something that would make leaders stop, reflect, and change.

Results: Noticeable Change in How Leaders Show Up
The programme created noticeable and measurable change, both in how leaders showed up and in how their teams responded. Reported outcomes included:
Increased trust and feedback across leadership teams
Greater confidence: leaders felt more confident in who they were, not just what they delivered
More meaningful conversations: managers began holding more meaningful conversations with their teams
Improved retention and engagement: several departments reported increased retention and re-engagement scores
A stronger HR voice: HR leaders began being viewed as strategic partners, not just process owners
Participant Reflections
“I didn’t think I could lead like this. I thought I had to have all the answers. Now I ask questions instead, and my team is stepping up.”
“I feel calmer under pressure. I know how to regulate myself and help my team do the same.”
“The trust across departments has changed. There’s more understanding now, not just transactions.”
Conclusion: A Model for Leadership Across Markets
The programme has now expanded to additional markets, with Publicis choosing to embed the core practices into onboarding and senior leadership development. By combining theory, reflection and real-world practice, the Purposeful Leadership Program gave Publicis Groupe MENA's leaders the space to stop, reflect, and change, and the tools to lead people, not just deliver.
